When I was a child, my father couldn't always afford to buy me the toys I desired. Despite this, I found immense joy in creating elaborate stories and unique characters with the few toys I had. Though he occasionally bought me new toys, they never seemed to keep up with the ever-evolving narratives in my head. So, I learned to play smart. I always wished for toys with many points of articulation because they could move more realistically, mirroring the dynamic scenarios I imagined. Inevitably, I often ended up with yet another Spiderman figure. Dressing them up and preparing various props or structures for my imagined scenes became a ritual. These scenarios, which played out in a continuous stream of consciousness, felt vividly real to me. From a young age, I was influenced by my mother’s hobby of sewing. She taught me how to make simple clothes for my toys using scraps of fabric. By the time I was 13, I had gained some independence in my own fashion choices, heavily influenced by the hip-hop culture of the time, particularly artists like Method Man and Redman. This period marked the beginning of my fascination with unique and eclectic fashion. Between the ages of 23 and 31, my interest in fashion and collecting unique items grew exponentially. I sought out the most distinctive pieces. I could find, gradually amassing a rich and diverse wardrobe. My fashion choices became increasingly adventurous. I experimented with everything from dressing as a fox or Stitch from Disney to embodying a soldier, ninja, samurai, handyman, or even a time traveler from the future. This eclectic mix of styles eventually evolved into my current preference for wearing a blazer. Page of 17 24Why do I share this journey? Because it is the foundation of my concept: dIG bICK. In essence, "I DIG BICK YOU!" captures the spirit of creating unique outfits or pieces from scraps or by enhancing existing items, each time building a story and a distinctive collection. I relish the freedom to create pieces from raw fabric and materials, infusing each with a sense of individuality and creativity. When working on commissions, I make it a point to get to know the person I'm designing for. If I can't find something pre-made that fits, I embark on creating a new project tailored entirely to the uniqueness of the client. My clothes and designs are for individuals unafraid to express their true selves. Berlin, the city where I currently reside, inspires me profoundly in this regard. The freedom and creativity that permeate the city resonate deeply with my approach to fashion and design. Berlin’s vibrant, eclectic fashion scene provides the perfect backdrop for my work. The city’s openness to individuality and self-expression aligns perfectly with my philosophy. Here, I find a community that celebrates uniqueness and innovation, encouraging me to push the boundaries of conventional fashion. I draw inspiration from my own experiences, the people I meet, and the vibrant culture of Berlin. My designs reflect this ethos, offering pieces that are not just clothes but expressions of identity and personality. Each piece I create tells a story. The process of creating these pieces is both deeply personal and highly collaborative. Each design is a fusion of these influences, resulting in pieces that are as unique as the individuals who wear them. My goal is to create fashion that not only looks good but also feels meaningful and authentic. In a world where mass-produced fashion often dominates, dIG bICK stand. out as a beacon of originality and craftsmanship. My pieces are for those who dare to be different, who embrace their quirks and imperfections, and who are not afraid to stand out in a crowd. They are for the dreamers, the rebels, and the visionaries who see fashion as a form of art and a means of self-expression. My journey from a child with a vivid imagination to a designer in Berlin has been driven by a love for creativity and self-expression. dIG bICK is the culmination of this journey, a brand that celebrates individuality and the stories that make us who we are.
