YEAH_I_SAW
My eyes are cameras, and my cameras are my eyes. This simple yet profound analogy captures the essence of my relationship with photography. It all began when my father introduced me to the art of capturing moments through a lens when I was just a child. Back then, I wasn’t particularly. interested. I believed that my eyes and memory were sufficient for preserving the beauty and experiences around me. However, as I grew. older, I realized that memories are fleeting, often fading away or resurfacing at the most unexpected times. This realization marked the beginning of my deeper appreciation for photography. During my time at art school, I was immersed in the world of visual arts, which inevitably led me to explore photography more seriously. I discovered a profound love for artistic photography a genre that involves meticulously creating and staging scenes, then immortalizing them in a single, eternal moment. This form of photography fascinated me because itallowed for complete control over the visual narrative. Each element within the frame was deliberately chosen and arranged, making the photograph a work of art that could be analyzed and appreciated endlessly. Despite my admiration for artistic photography, I found myself increasingly drawn to the spontaneity of candid shots. There is something uniquely compelling about capturing a moment as it unfolds naturally, without any prior staging or preparation. In these instances, the subject of the photograph is the moment itself—a fleeting, ephemeral event captured by the right person, at the right time, with the right tools and settings. This ability to foresee or recognize a moment that deserves to be preserved forever is a skill I cherish and continuously strive to
refine. Page of 8 24The digital age has revolutionized photography, making it more accessible and versatile than ever before. With digital cameras, one can take countless photos without worrying about the cost or limitations of film. This technological advancement has allowed photographers to experiment freely, capturing moments from multiple angles and in various lighting conditions. The immediacy of digital photography means that once a moment is captured, it can be viewed, edited, and shared almost instantaneously. This readiness to seize a moment and make it everlasting is what I love about digital photography. However, my passion for photography extends beyond the digital realm. There is something magical about analog photography, particularly instant photography. Polaroids, Instax, and similar brands have a special place in my heart. The experience of taking an instant photo and watching itdevelop before your eyes is nothing short of enchanting. Each instant photograph is a tangible piece of memory, a physical artifact that captures a specific moment in time. Unlike digital photos, which can beeasily duplicated and shared, instant photos are unique . They carry a sense of intimacy and authenticity that is hard to replicate.Photography, whether digital or analog, serves two primary purposes: preserving memories and telling stories. The ambiguity inherent in photographs is what I find most intriguing. A single photo can tell an infinite number of stories, depending on the viewer’s imagination and interpretation. This open-endedness allows for endless possibilities and meanings to be drawn from a single image. For instance, a picture of a deserted street at dusk can evoke a myriad of emotions and narratives. To one person, it might represent loneliness and isolation; to another, it might symbolize peace and tranquility. The same photo can remind someone of their hometown, while to another, it could be a scene from a dream or a movie. This multifaceted nature of photography is what makes it such a powerful medium of expression. As I continue my journey in photography, I find myself constantly exploring new techniques and styles, always seeking to capture the essence of a moment in the most compelling way possible. My cameras have become an extension of my eyes, allowing me to see and document the world with a heightened sense of awareness and appreciation. Through the lens, I am able to capture not just the physical appearance of a scene, but also the emotions and stories embedded within it. Photography has evolved from a childhood curiosity into a profound passion and an integral part of my life. It has taught me to value both the art of deliberate creation and the beauty of spontaneous moments. Whether through the meticulous staging of artistic photography or the candid capture of everyday life, I have come to appreciate the infinite stories that a single photograph can tell. Y.I.S. short of Yeah I Saw is always on.
My eyes are cameras, and my cameras are my eyes.
