ANATOME #0
This project is called Anatome and was originally ideated in 2012. For an anatomy exam at university, I came up with the concept of showing not only what was requested by the teacher, but also my personal idea of the word “anatomy.”
First of all:
Origin: The word “anatomy” comes from the Greek anatomē, which translates to “dissection” or “a cutting up.”
Components: It is derived from the Greek ana (“up” or “apart”) + temnō (“I cut”).
History: The term originated in late 14th-century Middle English (from Old French anatomie) and Latin (anatomia) as a method for understanding the body through opening it.
This led me to create my face dissected and made into pieces, which became Anatomy #1. Then in 2020 I created a series of drawings based on that idea, focusing on division in Anatomy #0 and on the brain in Anatomy #2 and #3. For the third piece, I wrote my name all in one shot with my right hand, finishing one marker in the process. For the second (LEFT), I used my left hand to write my name. Anatomy #1 and #2 have been sold.
