I have always been fascinated by snakes and consider them extraordinary creatures, which is why I have often studied them out of pure curiosity. On one occasion, I saw a photo of what I believe was a bright green python sleeping on a tree branch, and the position it was holding struck me immediately. There was something unexpectedly tender about it, almost the cutest thing I had ever seen from an animal that is not usually associated with that kind of feeling. That image stayed with me and became the starting point for this piece.
